board election featured what may have been one of the closest races in Scottsboro history and the only incumbent upset of the day Incumbent Robin Shelton edged challenger Glenn Moore by just six votes to win Place 2 while Ron Ricker upset incumbent Rickey Dooley in Place 3 just glad that over said a relieved Shelton hope I let down those that voted for me during the next six years or those that Incumbents Johnny Ivey Tom Wilson and Sandy Walker Kean claimed solid victories in Tues Municipal Election All three earned second terms on the Scottsboro City Council hope a case that every body thinks doing a good respectable job and the city is headed in the right Ivey said of the incumbent sweep tried to address the con cerns of the Wilson said he thinks the of the past council was noticed by the citizens have worked together very Wilson said coopera tion and unity we have seen with in the council is appreciated by the Walker Kean said there were one or two reasons for the incum bent victories people thought we were doing a real good job or peo ple care hoping it was the first Walker Kean said think we have worked well together and accomplished a lot of good things for the city of Scotts In the race for Council Place 3 Ivey won with 60 percent of the votes as he beat James Stevens with 1488 unofficial votes to 961 just real happy the citizens of Scottsboro are liking the direc tion the city is going on the move Scottsboro is growing and growing and I think even better things are ahead in the Tom Wilson won 73 percent of the vote in Place 4 to defeat chal lenger Marvin an hour of deliberating with all parties con cerned with the demolition of Skyline School Circuit Judge Haralson announced Tuesday at a hearing that no further action would be taken until a special meeting is held on Sept 10 to allow time for consideration of alternatives The hearing was held in con junction with a temporary restrain ing order issued by Haralson at the request of Skyline resident Diane Potter Kuhlman The injunction halted the demolition of the school scheduled for Monday After the announcement John Graham Scottsboro attorney rep Historic Commission offers to take over school building By BAYNE A HUGHES Managing Editor The Alabama Historical Commission has offered to assume responsibility for the Skyline School until a perma nent decision about the building can be reached The Historical Commission has made this precedent setting offer to the Jackson County Soard of Education because according to Commission Archi tectural Historian Bob Gamble the building has
