Kids’ library events in July (2)

Below are the children’s events at the Cannon Falls Area Library for July:

  • Reader of the Week (kids 12 and younger): For each of the 10 weeks of summer reading we will draw a name to be our Reader of the Week! This child will receive a $5 Cannon Belles gift card, a drawstring backpack and their picture in the Beacon and on the library’s Facebook page! Submit your child’s name at the library today!

  • Story Time on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:30-11 a.m. in the library’s meeting room. We will read stories, play with puppets, have fun with a parachute and much more! Great for kids 0-5.

  • LEGO & Duplo Club: Wed. July 3, from noon -1:30 p.m. For Kids 12 and younger. We have the LEGOs, you bring the imagination! Free play or take on our building challenge.

  • Library Tails! Reading with a Therapy Dog: For kids ages 6-12. Sign up for a 15 minute reading slot with either Sven or Spring. Dates are July 9, 3-4:30 p.m. and July 19, 1:30-3 p.m. Call (507-263-2804) or stop by the library to reserve a slot.

  • Sonic Movie Madness! Wednesday, July 10, 11 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. Join us for a double feature of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2! Feel free to bring snacks, lunch, and drinks with lids, plus blankets and pillows if you want!

  • Summer Learning Packets: Every other Friday throughout the summer (July 12 and July 26). While supplies last we will have math, reading, STEM and art packets for grades 1-5.

  • Board Game Day: Monday, July 15, from noon - 2 p.m. Great for kids 5-12! Come free play with all sorts of board games, card games, memory games, puzzle games and more!

  • International Owl Center: “Build an Owl” Wednesday, July 17, at 1 p.m. Learn firsthand about owl adaptations by picking out pieces and parts that belong to an owl. If we get them all correct a real life owl will come out for a visit! This program was funded by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Library Legacy Fund and with support from SELCO. This event is free and open to the public.

  • Crafter Afternoon- Speech Bubble Art: Monday, July 22, from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. For kids 8-12, younger children must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Pokémon Club: Wed., July 24, at 3 p.m. Join us for a few rounds of BINGO for Pokémon prizes! We ask that very young Pokémon trainers be accompanied by an adult. Thank you!

  • Invent a Board Game: For kids 7 to 12. Tuesday, July 30, from 3-4:30 p.m. How are board games created? Come and find out- plus, we will spend time inventing and creating our own board games!

  • Mario Kart Party: Wed., July 31, from 2 - 4 p.m. Join us for a few rounds of Mario Kart on the Nintendo Wii! We will take turns racing and there will also be crafts! Great for kids 4-12.

  • The End of Summer Reading party will be Aug. 15 at 2 p.m.! Join us for a magic show by Brodini and then the raffle basket drawing at 2:45 p.m.
